\nYour letter to the parents in the first scenario was very professional. I liked that you addressed the full issues (the before, during, and after). You also informed the parents that it was not issue of what she was doing, but that she was disobeying your instructions. As English teachers it can be hard for us to tell a student to stop reading, when we encourage it at all other times. I think you handled the situation perfectly!
